Who do you work with?

While I find great joy in seeing clients overcome a wide variety of challenges, I have come to describe my ideal client as those who have maybe been in therapy for quite some time already. In my experience this has meant clients that are feeling a disconnect between what they know to be true and what they feel to be true. My areas of focus include trauma and complex PTSD, grief and loss, substance use disorders, Christian counseling, and couples counseling.

How can you help me?

Sometimes the challenges that grab our attention enough to encourage us to seek therapy seem too big to tackle. Maybe they aren't well defined, manifest as unhelpful thoughts/feelings/behaviors that seemingly come out of nowhere, or we just simply don't know where to start. We will work together to break these things down into their simplest parts so that you can set goals and challenge yourself in ways that feel more approachable. I will collaborate with you to chart a course towards the life you would rather be living. The deeper work involves standing side-by-side with you as we peer into your own story to find insights into not just what is bothering you but why it is bothering youWe will keep an open line of communication throughout our work together that gives you the ability to let me know what you need and allows me to challenge and encourage you to keep going until you have achieved your goals.

How will I know that I am making progress?

The short answer is that you will begin to achieve whatever it is that you have set out to do! However, along the way you will begin to feel the gap closing between what you know in your mind and what you feel in your heart. This alignment of the head and heart is what begins to produce the sense of safety and confidence needed to begin taking some risks and step outside your comfort zone, where you will start to find that it really wasn't so bad. Once you start building a story of success in that space you will see a cascade of positive changes that shape a new normal for your day-to-day life.

What types of therapy do you provide?

Primarily, I am a trauma therapist, focusing much of my time and training on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. I have also received training in Clinical Hypnosis, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Additionally, I have studied music therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, CBT, DBT, Neuropsychotherapy, and Polyvagal Theory, to name a few. My main goal is to creatively integrate a variety of approaches to meet your specific needs, preferences, and interests.
